3. Do you foresee social media and citizen journalism (e.g. blogs) replacing the role of traditional media in Vietnam. Why?

Social media has a huge impact on the society, especially the youth. There are world of popular blogger that have millions of page view. These blog is read every day and treated as the sources of new as it gives different perspective and aspects of things and news from the traditional media such as TV, newspaper or online newspaper.

Though it does have a huge impact on the society but it will not be able to replace the role of traditional media because actually, these information provided by these blogger are not under any guarantee of the precise of the information provided. The social media will go along with the traditional media as the inner voice of the crowd
.

Following up with the bust-out of individual blogs, there are trends of corporate blogs used for marketing purpose. However, this potential is not yet expoilt fully.

Example:
Baamboo search engine of VC company.
dev.baamboo.com: main blog
tratu.baamboo.com/blog: Online Dictionary
The admin take care of the blog, active in discussion and reply

Others: not as good as Baamboo
360.yahoo.com/blognumberone
360.yahoo.com/bachvietbooks
360.yahoo.com/ftu_hrc

The disclosure and freedom in media

6. Are there any restrictions in Vietnam that might hinder further development of social media in the country?

There are no law to restrict the activities of the bloggers, but some authority still have some intervention through pressuring on yahoo Vietnam and request for having some famous blog deleted.

7. In your opinion, what do you think the key tips to effectively engage the social media scene in Vietnam?

- The development of internet - make it more affordable
- Trust worthiness of the site must be guaranteed - this can be done by some technical innovation. This is a problem because a blog can be mimicked easily.
