BlogoutThis event is particularly useful for entrepreneurs trying to get a grip of the social media scene in Singapore. The event discusses emergent forms of social, web technology, to create change for organizations, communities and society.

This year (2009), the event took place on 6th and 7th March at the Singapore Art Museum. There was a day for the Corporate Track, for which attendees were required to pay an entrance fee of $120, and the next day (the 7th of March) was free-for-all, inviting bloggers and non-bloggers, both. A total of 180 people attended the event, and they consisted of professionals
from marketing and communications, the PR industry, brand managers, entrepreneurs, students, people from the media, bloggers, thought leaders, community players and even representatives of the government.

The Corporate Track features some of the best speakers and practitioners in the Social Media scene, and there are talks on what other corporations have done right and wrong in the social media sphere. Barcamp 3 at Singapore was held on 28th February, 2009 at the Ngee Ann Polytechnic. The main objective of the event was "
To bring together interesting people in the IT, media, energy, bio-tech and other sectors to share ideas in an collegial atmosphere of unabashed geekery" [Source - http://barcamp.org/BarCampSingapore3]

Last year, Singapore hosted Barcamp 2, and the central theme was to bring in professionals and enthusiasts working on map applications in the internet and mobile applications.

6. Tweet Tuesdays

Along similar lines as the concept of the Social Media Breakfasts, Tweet Tuesdays are another social media get together. The concept of Tweet Tuesdays was introduced by Claudia Lim and Kelvin Lim of 24seven. Tweet Tuesdays are not meant to be just another 'stand-around-and-network-whilst-eating-free-food session'. According to the organizers, Tweet Tuesdays are a platform to on micro-blogging (Twitter and Plurk) - and an opportunity to share tips, tricks and tools for this platform. it is also a community potluck. There has been only one Twitter Tuesday so far, and the organizers are looking toward having much more structured, conference-style get togethers in the future. As of now, they don't seem to have a dedicated website or a Facebook group. Invites to Tweet Tuesdays seem to work on the basis of word-of-mouth Facebook invites. We hope to hear a lot more from them in the future! You can read more about Tweet Tuesdays here.
