1. Why did you start blogging?

To share my knowledge and keep track of my learning progress.

2. Where do you get your inspiration to write your posts?

From current events in industries I'm interested in. From synthesis of my thinking.

3. How have corporations and organizations adopted to digital media tools to enhance their businesses and reputation? Do you have a good example in mind that you can share with us?

These are examples of corporations outside of Vietnam:

Dell sales: http://en.community.dell.com/blogs/direct2dell/archive/2009/06/11/delloutlet-surpasses-2-million-on-twitter.aspx

Honda marketing: http://bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=conewsstory&refer=conews&tkr=KO:US&sid=awy_dzFO0gJY

4. What potential do you think social media holds for organizations in Vietnam and how can they capitalize on that potential? Any advises for organizations on how to effectively use digital media in specific Vietnamese contexts?

Social Media can assist organizations to:
  • Boost sales
  • Create PR & marketing tools
  • Gather information from the markets
  • Influence social attitude

For Vietnam context:
  • Localization
  • Entertainment-focused, or at least pretend so
  • Integrate with web-game providers

5. What is the greatest asset Vietnam brings to the table with regard to business?

  • Experience in producing agricultural, maritime and textile products
  • Labour with competitive price
  • A 84-million-people market. Somewhat more homogeneous compared to other big markets

6. What are Vietnamese firm’s concerns about licensing and protection of intellectual property?

  • Ambiguity in professional organizations lobby campaigns for licensing and IP regulation. Sometimes companies believe that organizations' motivation might be misaligned with the interests of such companies.
  • Ineffective open-source development in Vietnam.
  • Lack of subsidy for organizations and academic institutions, considering low GDP of Vietnam.

7. What do you think the outlook of Web 2.0 will be like, 5 years down the road?

2.0 characteristics (user-generated content, social bookmarking, distributed comments) would have become the norm in web design, web architecture. People would have taken 2.0 for granted and stopped talking about it.

  • Web systems would have been more complex. The use of private cloud computing would be wide-spreading.
  • The web would have assisted enterprise systems such as CRM and recruitment.
  • Microsoft would have taken a long step against Google. Alliances could have been formed, with Facebook temporarily joining Microsoft. Many new services would have been born.
  • The next generation of web will allow the computer systems to understand more about human behaviour by tracking human activities on the web.
  • Web would have powered the evolution of mobile computing and networking.
  • More types of online advertising and monetization would have been exploited.
