This user guide will explain and demonstrate in the form of a user case scenario. This user guide will educate you on how to get things started.

Example:
Project manager Mary, an active contrbutor, wants to share some information that she found on the internet. Her findings are related to the social media situaton in China. She wants to share her findings by creating a page and editing it with the WYSIWYG editor and also include some widgets.To inform her co-workers on what she has done, Mary wants to include short notes to explain her creations.

Creating a New Page, “China: Friends” for China.

Click on China main header on the left navigation bar to indicate that the new page belongs under this category. (see Principle 3 Best Practices)

Click on Add page

Enter a suitable name that describes your new page, China: Friends

Tags are useful to make your page search easier for web users. (see Principle 1 Best Practices)

Enter appropriate page tags, china, friends, social, network, contact

You may select from a list of suitable templates for the new page. In this demonstration, we will use a basic template.

Select Blank page as the template.

Click Add Page

You should see the following page added, China: Friends under China on the left navigation bar.

The new page is also opened on the right.

Rearranging the position of “China: Friends”.

Click on More tools and select Move page

Select new page location by clicking on the desired page header and click Set Page Location.

To add widgets, click Widgets (video, rss.. ).
You should see a new pop up window showing all the possible widgets that you can add to your new page. WetPaint.com will update this widget list constantly.

As such, this guide will only demonstrate how to add a popular widget for video sharing.

Select YouTube.

You may search for a relevant video to include into your page by clicking Add by Searching.

For this guide, we will assume that you already have the video in mind and you have the video URL from YouTube.

Click Add by URL or EMBED.

Say, we want to post the video, Social Marketing Strategies in China by flipthemedia.

Copy the video URL on YouTube.com.

Paste the video URL into the text area.

Click on Add YouTube Video to save.

You should see your video now embedded into the WYSIWYG.

Increase or decrease the video size by clicking on - or +. You may also edit the presentation layout with Wrap Text.

Click Done to save.

Click Save to save your work.

You may be prompted to Add an Edit Note. Edit notes are useful for revision checking so that another contributor can see who has updated what. You may leave this empty. (see Principle 2 Best Practices)

For this guide, we will enter an edit note and leave the Watch this page checked.

Click Save to publish your work.

Adding a new widget to your page: RSS

Select RSS.

For this guide, we will assume that you already have the feed in mind and you have the RSS feed from the source website.

Say, we want to follow the feed, Government & Policy by China Newswire.

Copy & Paste the RSS feed into the text box.

You can choose to display up to 5 feeds on your page. For now, we will leave it as 3.

Click on Add RSS Feed to save.

You should see your RSS feed now embedded into the WYSIWYG. You may display more feeds later by clicking on the highlighted content and using Edit RSS….

Click Save to publish your work.
