woke up this morning to hear on the news some truly scary news. No, it wasn't about the ever-expanding war between Russia and Georgia (though that is pretty scary if you think about it), and it wasn't new info about the perils of global warming. No, the scary news was that consumer prices have made a huge jump since last year, driven by rising prices for food and fuel.... Because of the high cost of fuel, the price of everything has gone through the roof, so price comparison shopping makes more and more sense to find the best deals. Bargain discount shopping online is easy to do, doesn't take any gas, and will save tons of money on your purchases. There is no shortage of stores online, and by searching you can probably get a price on. http://blog.shoppingexperience.info

Can the mobile markets team send the design team 3 pictures of their choice (like the internet filtering team) so that we can make a cover page to standardize the wiki?

Hi Everyone! I am new to this wiki and hoping to get some help. I am a jouralist/editor from Wall Street NY and am going to be doing a story on social networking in Seoul. Is there anyone who is familiar or even expert that would like to be interviewed? I will be in Seoul from May 5th - May 15th. Please contact me through this wiki or at amandagbeals@gmail.com. This is the paper I am writing for MainStreet.com. Thank you! Amanda

To the China team for 07/08 T2;
You guys have gotten off to a great start! I have been following this wiki and i can see some valuable data added in. Besides researching on the state of social media in China, the challenge with working on a pre-existing wiki is that you guys need to spell out how social media in China has evolved over the past few months, or since the original wiki was created. This is where tid-bits like those you have added under the government issues are extremely important.
Great job so far! It would be interesting to see how this wiki pans out.

The popularity of the web is largely based on the ability to remain anonymous while stating something that you might be persecuted for in the normal world. With China now starting to move towards blocking anonynmous postings (Chinese city bans anonymous web postings -- http://www.phillyfuture.org/node/5425), how and by how much do you think new blogs and blog postings in China will be affected?

RE: Future of Blogs

Thanks for the link and the comment.
Firstly, the reason why bulletin board systems are popular in China are because they allow users to remain anonymous, as compared to blog postings. Now with the ban on anonymous web postings, the blogosphere in China will definitley be affected. Blogs will be affected in the sense that the users will have to take greater responsibility when they voice their opinions on the web. Additionally, the government has always been involved with controlling the media in general and this ban will simply increase the control that the government has in the Chinese social media. The only advice to users in China would then be to blog responsibly.
